VITA SHORTS
VITA SHORTS
VITA SHORTS, China’s first festival focusing on the broader Chinese-speaking and International world, remains dedicated to the freedom of film creation and appreciation, uncovering vibrant youth imagery within the context of contemporary cinema and establishing a free space for the spirit of short films.
Over the past four years, it has screened over 200 short films and hosted retrospective exhibitions or premiere events featuring directors such as Tsai Ming-liang, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Hong Sang-soo, Lee Chang-dong, and Tetsuya Nakashima. Works by directors such as Wang Bing, Liu Jiayin, Li Ruijun, Huang Ji, Tatsushi Omori, Zhang Ming, and Tan Chui Mui have been featured in special online screenings. In 2024, the final jury included SFC representative and Busan International Short Film Festival curator Kang Byung-hwa, along with directors Geng Jun and Yang Yishu.
The festival is jointly organized by Cadillac · Shanghai Concert Hall, Hoyts Cinemas (Shanghai), and UCCA Center for Contemporary Art (Beijing). Starting in 2025, VITA SHORTS received official festival accreditation from the international film platform MUBI and IMDb.
